Your voice counts! Join with the over 400 active Chamber volunteers who not only network and develop but make many contributions to the mission of the Chamber. Please call the Chamber at (519) 576-5000 to learn more about how you can get involved!

Much of the work of the Chamber is done by hundreds of dedicated volunteers who are supported by a skilled staff. Standing Committees meet regularly, each with a mandate to address specific areas of interest to the business community or to provide social or educational opportunities to Chamber members.

In addition to our standing committees, the Chamber has a number of task forces and special subcommittees that deal with timely and vital issues affecting business and our community. Task forces are perfect opportunities for those who wish to focus intensely on a short-term project. The Chamber currently maintains task forces or subcommittees in the following areas:

  • Health Care Policy
  • Physician Recruitment
  • Local Government Reform
  • Waterloo Regional Airport
  • Education Reform
  • School Councils
  • Education Survey
  • Adult Education

Jane is in her seventh year as marketing and public relations manager with Airways Transit. Representing a transportation service has provided her with a variety of opportunities for community involvement, and in many cases corporate sponsorship has evolved into a volunteer committement as well. Jane was involved with the K-W Visitor & Convention Bureau participating in the Conference and Marketing committees, progressing to Chair of the Marketing and Board member. In addition, she is a long standing and current volunteer with the organizing committees of the Manulife Ride for Heart, Oktoberfest Passport to Success, the Waterloo Busker Carnival of Fools fund-raising gala, and the K-W Chamber Physicians Recruitment Weekend Committee.

In her own words:
The K-W Chamber of Commerce has established itself as an organization committed to taking the initiative in presenting member issues to the appropriate level of government.

It also does not hesitate to take action, as demonstrated by the number of special Task Forces. These activities provide members with meaningful representation, which in turn ensures the continued strength of our Chamber.

Jane George, Marketing &
Public Relations Manager,
Airways Transit Service Ltd.
